EFAFLEX: The High-Speed Door Specialists Bringing a World First to Parkex 2026

1.EFAFLEX has been manufacturing high-speed doors for over 50 years and is a global market leader in the sector. For those who haven't come across you before, what does that mean for a car park operator or developer looking at door solutions?
In simple terms, it means security, performance, and reliability. Our doors are designed to open and close very quickly, literally in seconds. Minimising the open time reduces exposure and increases security for users. In addition, all EFAFLEX doors are designed and manufactured using quality materials to ensure they last. An average door from EFAFLEX can operate from 200,000 – 500,000 cycles a year, for years. Our motto is ‘buy once by buying well!’
2.You have a dedicated parking systems range, the EFA-SST® PS. What were the specific challenges of car park environments that led you to develop a product line built specifically for them?
Car parks are often demanding environments, where people interact with cars combining the hazards around constant vehicle movement, tight spaces, ventilation, and security requirements. We developed the range to overcome and effectively manage those conditions which include features such as fast opening speeds, compact designs that can compensate for limited headroom, and build quality for high volume usage at entrance and exit points.
3.Car parks see relentless traffic flow, often 24/7. How do your doors hold up over time?
Durability is at our core. We’ll revisit installations years later, as part of the customer’s service programme and they still look like new, and operating without a glitch. As I’ve mentioned, our high-speed doors are capable of up to 500,000 operating cycles a year. To put that into context, that equates to over 1,300 operating cycles a day!
4.Security is a growing concern for car park operators, particularly in urban locations. How do your doors help improve safety and security for users and operators?
A big part of security is managed by effectively controlling access at the entrance and exit points. As our doors open and close in seconds, this helps prevent tailgating and unauthorised access from unwanted traffic. Our doors can also be integrated into existing building management systems such as access control, so only authorised users can enter. We also provide a choice of safety sensors and detection systems to make sure vehicles and pedestrians can ingress and egress safely without delays.
5.You're also showcasing a new prototype door at Parkex this year. What can you tell us about it, and what kind of feedback are you hoping to get from visitors at the show?
We’ll be showing a concept door, details of which are under wraps for now, but all will be revealed at Parkex! This is the ideal opportunity for us to show the concept to the parking industry, where we can gather feedback from experienced parking designers, operators, and management companies that we will use for future developments and innovations.
6.You've recently launched the EFA-SmartAssist®. What problem does that solve for someone running a car park or a facilities management team responsible for one?
Incidents can happen, so imagine the knock-on effect if a door suddenly breaks down. Traffic would quickly back up wouldn’t it. The EFA- SmartAssist is a digital diagnosis tool. It helps identify issues remotely and quickly via a mobile phone. Without the need for an App, it will connect via a secure live video between customer and our technician to identify and help correct an issue, therefore minimising the need for an on-site visit and the associated travel costs and downtime.
7. What's the one thing you'd want someone passing or visiting your stand at Parkex to understand about EFAFLEX that they might not already know?
The speed with which they operate. Seeing really is believing, particularly at exhibitions when visitors can see the doors in motion. People often think a door is just a door, and they are all similar. But in environments such as car parks the performance, speed and reliability really make a difference to day-to-day operations. It’s that combination of EFAFLEX attributes that are the reasons customers turn and return to us time and again!
