Stuart Harrison

Chief Strategy Officer UK Parking Control Ltd

I have worked in the Parking Industry for the last 13 years at UKPC. I have been involved heavily with the BPA in the last few years and am an elected member of the Council of Representatives as well as sitting on the Operational Services Board. I have previously been involved in the code of practice review group and have more recently spent a lot of time working with colleagues at the BPA and from other Parking Operators looking at how best to engage with Government and stakeholders over the proposals for the Single Code of Practice.

My most recent role with UKPC gives me more time to actively contribute to industry matters as well as review larger strategic projects for the business.

Parking (Code of Practice) Act 2019 - getting the best result for our members
Steve Thompson Steve Clark Gary Osner Derek Millard-Smith Stuart Harrison Mark Anfield Conor Greely

The BPA welcomes the introduction of the Parking (Code of Practice) Act 2019 and most of the measures it seeks to introduce, including a single code, a single appeals service, and a standard setting body. Indeed, we have lobbied for these elements for over a decade. However it must be noted that the government’s proposal to drastically reduce the deterrent effect of parking charges on private land has far reaching implications for consumers, landowners, and the parking sector.

It is crucial that any new measures build on the great strides that have been made to raise standards over recent years and do not unintentionally undo this good work and tarnish the whole parking sector. This session will see key industry figures being interviewed on a variety of workstreams to ensure that the best possible conclusion for the private parking sector is achieved.
